Littermates Hurd’s Padre and Hurd’s Lil Tiki, pictured winning majors, handled by Marie Hurd on the Memorial Day Weekend shows.  These were Marie’s last show as she passed away suddenly on July 23, 1982.  Marie’s death made a huge impact on Hurd’s Chihuahuas.

After Marie’s death I finished Ch. Hurd’s Snowball (above left).  Padre who had been showing well for Marie refused to lead for me.  Terri Lyddon (above right) handled him on to his title.  His littermate “Hurd’s Lil Tiki” pictured above went to a pet home on a ranch in Montana.  The following year, 1983, was the only year from 1959 through 2008 that no champions were finished at Hurd’s.  Many of my Chihuahuas were sold or placed in homes.

Ch. Hurd’s Lil Lord Fauntleroy sired by Ch. Hurd’s Marty, dam Ch. Hurd’s Tabetha II was a full brother to Ch. Padre.  Handled by Terri Lyddon.

Ch. Dartan’s Barbary Coast bred by Tanya and Darwin Delaney was one of my all time favorites.  “Bart” was WD and BW at CCofA National Specialty his first show.  He went back later to the National and was BOV and BOS to BOB.   Bart was on the CCofA Top Producer List and had many group placements.  My thanks to the Delaneys for sharing.

A lovely setting of Rita Geiger’s Chihuahuas.  On right is Rita’s foundation bitch Hurd’s Caramel Creme.

Caramel was not shown due to a broken leg however her get made quite a name for themselves.  On left (below also) is Ch. Geiger’s Tiger Mask of Hurd.  In the middle (and on right below) is Ch. Geiger’s Twinkle of Hurd CDX pictured going BISS at the Milwaukee Chihuahua Specialty at 12 years of age.  Another son, Manuel of Evergreen CDX, owned by Elizabeth Johnson, produced 10 champions including BOB CCofA National  Specialty winner Ch. Mikal of Evergreen Grove and Ch. Jacinto of Evergreen Grove, All Breed BIS winner and winner of 40 Toy Groups.

Ch. Hurd’s MiMi, bred by Max E. Hurd and owned by Gerry Hurd.  I put “MiMi” in Gerry’s name in an attempt to get Gerry enthused in showing Chihuahuas.  She got her first points on her and then sent her home with Linda to finish.

Ch. Hurd’s Sweet Carmalita pictured winning WB and BW at the Greater Milwaukee Chihuahua Specialty under judge Michelle Billings, handled by Linda George.

Ch. Mikal of Evergreen Grove, was a joint effort of Liz Johnson and I.  He was bred by Liz, out of Ch. Angel Rose of Evergreen who was bred by Liz, then purchased and finished by the Hurd’s.  Then upon Marie’s death she went back to Liz with a co-ownership of a nice pup deal.  That was “Mikal”.  Pictured above left, Mikal was Best LC in Puppy Sweeps under judge Linda George and then RWD under judge Ken Miller at the National Specialty handled by Liz Johnson.  Below right “Mikal” went to Florida and was WD and BW at both the Tampa Bay Chihuahua Specialty and the Lakeland-Winter Haven KC shows for two five point majors, handled by Max E. Hurd.  “Mikal” was latter purchased and specialed by Gilbert Kahn to  a modt impressive show career including BISS at the CCofA National Specialty.  Small shots by Paulette.

Two of Hurd’s Witch Doctor’s champion get.  On the left is Hurd’s Amazing Grace, a beautiful dark chocolate.  Gracie was out of my dogs from Shroyer lines on her dam’s side and was one of the few chocolates that I’ve produced.   Right is Ch. Hurd’s Marty II.  Both were bred, owned and handled by Max E. Hurd

Ch. Hurd’s Lil Red Bikini, a small, gorgeous headed  girl was a full sister to Ch. Hurd’s Gayela and Ch. Hurd’s Gingersnap.  After one unsuccessful attempt at motherhood, she went to live the life of luxury with my good friend Marilyn who so many of my retired favorites have spent their remaining days with.  Bikini was Marilyn’s all time favorite.

Ch. Hurd’s Tiffany II, pictured winning a major under judge Elaine Young, handled by breeder Max E. Hurd.  Tiffany was purchased and finished to her championship by Lois and Bob Caviness.  Tiffany was a very good producer and has several very nice champions to her credit.
